In the event of an emergency the emergency services should be contacted by dialling 999, and asking for the Police, Fire, Ambulance or Coastguard.

Fires, road traffic accidents and incidents at sea, are the type of emergencies that can occur in Torbay.  The Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Coastguard deal with these incidents and are often supported by staff from Torbay Council.

Torbay Council's role may include:

  • Providing assistance and advice to the emergency services
  • Using resources to mitigate the effects of the emergency
  • Co-ordinating the response of other organisations
  • Providing support services to the community affected
  • Maintaining services to the unaffected part of the community
  • Leading the recovery of the community and the environment
