District Deprivation

Six summary measures of the overall Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) have been produced at district level, which describe differences between districts.

The summary measures at district level focus on different aspects of multiple deprivation in the area. No single summary measure is favoured over another, as there is no single best way of describing or comparing districts.

Key Points:

• Torbay is ranked as the 94th most deprived local authority in England in the Rank of average score.
• The rank of average rank places Torbay as the 89th most deprived local authority in England. Just outside the top quartile.

Key Point:

• Torbay is one of two local authorities in Devon in the top 100 most deprived local authorities in England for the rank of average score.
