Your ceremony at Approved Premises

You can choose to hold your ceremony in any of the buildings approved by Torbay Council's Register Office. Each property has been individually and carefully inspected and approved as suitable for civil ceremonies. Wherever the civil ceremony is held, it will still be conducted by staff from the local Register Office.

If you decide to hold your ceremony in approved premises, you should first contact them direct to ensure that the date you want is available and their package and costs are acceptable.

Once you have confirmed details with the venue, contact the Superintendent Registrar to check the availability of an officer. Please bear in mind that for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies outside of the Register Office an attendance fee will be charged. Please see our fees and charges for current pricing.

Once a firm arrangement has been made the Superintendent Registrar will advise you of all the required formalities. If you choose to marry in church, you should meet with your clergyman, priest or minister to discuss your plans and seek advice on how to proceed.
