The Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP) for 2008 and the Council’s Corporate Plan 2008+ should be considered together as providing an analysis of the current performance of the authority as well as identifying the future direction of the authority.
Every year in June we publish a Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP) which looks at how our services have performed over the past year. The BVPP also illustrates what service levels we aim to achieve in the coming year and longer term and gives us an opportunity to look at how we are doing in meeting the needs of local people and communities. It also gives you a chance to look at how we are doing and for you to let us have your views.
BVPIs themselves are being replaced with a new National Indicator Set with effect from 1 April 2008 and therefore, this will be the last BVPP which we will produce and in future years details on our performance will be reported elsewhere i.e. combined in the Council’s Annual Report and Statement of Accounts.
The Performance Plan is a companion to the Corporate Plan 2008+ which sets out the Council's policy priorities and shapes its activity and spending.
The Corporate Plan 2008+ identifies the vision and priorities of the Council, the outcomes it is working to deliver with its partners and the key actions it will be taking in the future. The Corporate Plan 2008+ also provides details of the key achievements of the Council in the priority areas.
It is important to stress that the Best Value Performance Plan and Corporate Plan 2008+ are just one part of the process of dialogue with the community. For example, each year the community are consulted as part of the process of determining the priorities for the forthcoming year.
The summary provides an overview of the services delivered by Torbay Council, as well as those provided by Devon & Cornwall Police and the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.
