Work Experience with Torbay Council

Torbay Council welcomes work experience requests and recognises that work experience offers many benefits to both the Council and student/s alike.
Torbay Council believes that work experience can play a key role in helping you develop an understanding of the world of work.  It will help give you an insight into what working is really like.  It can also help you think about what options are available to you when you leave school or college.

So what is Torbay Council?

Well… Torbay Council is a Local Authority and is actually one of the largest employers within Torbay.
We are a huge service provider and we are responsible for providing a range of services within the Bay from things such as education, environmental health, highways and planning, refuse and waste, to housing, tourism and leisure. To aid us in providing all of these different services to the Bay, its residents and visitors, we have a massive range of jobs.

Why should I choose Torbay Council for my work experience placement?

Variety! With all of the different services we provide there is a wide choice of departments you could get involved with and learn about.
There are many different jobs covering different professional, technical, trade, clerical and administrative areas such as mechanics, adminstrative assistants, solicitors, environmental health officers, harbour assistants, human resources advisors, refuse collectors, social workers, IT officers, customer service advisors, nursery nurses, the list really does go on and on.

Ok I’m interested, what do I need to do now to get a placement?

You’ll need to fill in the work experience request form.  When you’re finished send this across to us via email, fax or post.
Once we’ve got your completed form we will get back to you as soon as we can.  We do receive a lot of work experience requests so please bear with us if it takes a little longer than normal to get back to you.
Please note: For work experience placements within a Torbay school please contact the school directly.
