Torbay's Street Wardens have been zapped into the 21st Century with the launch of an SMS text messaging service for local residents.
The new service will enable residents to text the council's Street Wardens to report any concerns they may have in their local area or to find out more about the scheme.
The service will be open to all residents in Torbay. Residents may wish to text the service to ask for a Junior Street Warden application pack, request a visit from a warden, report an abandoned vehicle or missing manhole cover or simply to find out more about the Street Warden scheme.
The seven wardens currently patrol the streets of Torre, Watcombe, Barton and Hele in Torquay and Foxhole and Queen Elizabeth Drive in Paignton. They are a visible presence encouraging community engagement, dealing with issues like anti-social behaviour and running clean up days with the local community to encourage pride in their area.
To contact the Street Wardens using SMS text messaging residents should text the word WARDENS and the following details in a maximum of 160 characters to 07786 202800 (standard network charges apply).
