Torbay Green Day

Want to do your bit for the environment, but not sure where to start? Come along to Torbay Green Day on Paignton Green on the third Saturday of September each year.

September 2007 saw the advent of an annual environmental event in Torbay’s calendar to recognise international ‘In Town without My Car Day’. The initiative originated in France in 1997 and by 2006 had spread across Europe to 35 countries and 200 towns, 60 of which were in the United Kingdom. The aim of the day is to encourage people to use more sustainable forms of transport in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which are the main cause of climate change, and improve local air quality.

The range and number of exhibitors has grown each year and now covers public transport, cycling, low carbon vehicles, recycling, water efficiency, Fairtrade, energy efficiency, climate change, renewable energy and local volunteering opportunities.

In 2008 over 1700 people visited the exhibition during the day. If you would like to exhibit at the 2009 Torbay Green Day please contact Strategic Transportion.
