The Environment

Nearly half of Torbay's land area (45%) is countryside. About a quarter of that countryside is protected as part of the South Devon 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Most of the remaining countryside is also protected from most forms of development, as are some of our important open spaces within towns.

We want to make sure that our heritage of fine buildings, archaeology, landscapes and wildlife is passed on to future generations in good condition
