Tough Decisions - Your Services

Consultation is ClosedOverview

Torbay Council along with all local authorities, is entering the second year of the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review.
For local government this means a reduction of 28% in Government funding over the next four years. The Government has only announced detailed figures for the next two years. For Torbay Council this means a cut of up to £11 million from next year's budget.
On Thursday 8 December the Mayor made his budget proposals to Council.  Details of the proposals can be found on the page. These describe the first draft of the budget, consultation continues until the Overview and Scrutiny meeting in January.
The council has published its proposals for savings, these detail where the council is considering increasing income, finding further efficiencies and varying or reducing services, as well as the services the council is hoping to support and maintain. Further details of these proposals can be found in October's budget newsletter (see Related Documents).
