The private rented sector is very important to Torbay, and makes up approximately 19% of all housing. We work closely with landlords to help prevent homelessness, and have developed a number of initiatives to further develop this relationship.

A quarterly newsletter is produced to keep landlords informed of new initiatives, changes in legislation and other newsworthy stories. If there are any issues you would like to see covered in the newsletter or would even like to contribute a story, please notify us (see Do It Online panel).

Accreditation is the voluntary compliance by private landlords with agreed standards in the condition and management of their properties and in their relationship with their tenants. It is purely voluntary but there are many business benefits to being accredited. There will be no charge for landlords to become accredited and many landlords across the Bay are looking forward to being recognised as good landlords.
