Once in Tor Bay, the daylight approach to Torquay Harbour is straightforward.  When you are navigating through the harbour entrance you will see the Harbour Authority visitors berthing pontoons directly in front of you adjacent to Haldon Pier.

Beware, during hours of darkness, the navigation lights can become confusing against Torquay’s backdrop of bright lights!  Visitors should contact the harbour office on VHF Channel 14 with call-sign “TORQUAY HARBOUR” for specific berthing instructions.

Berthing

A 96 metre visitors pontoon with access via a gangway can be found on the north side of Haldon Pier between May and September each year.  This facility is also used for hosting Maritime Events as and when required throughout the season.  Visitors facilities may therefore be limited during large events.  Along with this the Harbour Authority also have all year round visitor berths located on the outside of the Town Dock (opposite Haldon Pier) and of course within the inner harbour.  Please note that the Harbour Authority do not except advanced visitor bookings and the visitor berths are operated only on a first come first served basis.  However in the busier times it is worth phoning in advance to see if you can be accomodated.  Visiting vessels will always have the option to berth on Torquay Marina (MDL) (Tel: +44 (0)1803 200210 (VHF Ch80))as an alternative to the pontoons provided by the Harbour Authority.

Depending on demand, visitors may be required to raft-up on vessels of a similar size, especially during the peak holiday weeks and bank holiday weekends. There is no reduction for doubling up.  Please announce your presence at the harbour office or to a member of the Marine Services staff on the quay-side.  Alternatively, please call "TORQUAY HARBOUR" on VHF Channel 14 for berthing instructions.

Both water and electricity are available at the berths on a first come first served basis although you will need to supply your own extension cable or hose pipe.  Electric cards can be purchased from the Harbour Office along with the key to the electric box if needed.  There are also shower facilities available on request (0900hrs-1900hrs).

Visiting vessels to Torquay Harbour are allowed to stay on the visitor pontoons for up to two hours with no charge.  Visitors staying more than 3 nights get one night free.  The maximum stay for a visitor is 2 weeks.  For charges please see the table below.

All charges, dues and fees are subject to the appropriate rate of Value Added Tax (15%) which is included in the price, except as indicated.

Anchoring

Anchoring is prohibited anywhere within Torquay's enclosed harbour.  Vessels may choose to anchor outside the harbour to the south-east of Haldon Pier or to the south-west of Princess Pier.
