Promoting our Environment - A Community Working Together
Are you interested in improving the quality of the environment within Torbay? Would you like to be involved with Torbay in Bloom? If so join one of the town action groups in your area!!! All are welcome.
Torbay in Bloom Plus steering group is a community partnership which acts as the basis for enhancing and developing the environmental quality of Torbay. Bringing together a number of smaller projects focusing on floral displays, parks and open spaces, and environmental cleanliness as well as other related arts, cultural and recreational projects.
It encompasses people from all different backgrounds focused on achieving one objective...to improve the quality of the environment within Torbay.
With your efforts we can make it happen!!!
How can I get involved?
To help engender the sense of civic pride, individual executive control was introduced to four town areas within Torbay. Each of these four Town Action Groups (St Marychurch & District , Torquay, Paignton, Brixham) is a team of interested people devoted to the effective administration and promotion of Torbay in Bloom for their respective towns.
If you would like to find out more about the work that is being undertaken by the St Marychurch and District Action Group you can visit their website.
These Town Action groups also enter the South West in Bloom competition each year, to be judged alongside other towns/areas in the South West.
This is a collection of interested people who hold regular meetings to discuss the way forward for Torbay in Bloom. Members of the TAG groups are invited along with council officers, horticulturalists and the Herald Express. It was founded in 1997 and is a platform for new ideas and to highlight any issues with particular areas.
Members of the community may attend the meetings by invitation and learn about how decisions are made and put into practice.
Please contact the Parks Development Officer for further information on how to become involved with Torbay in Bloom plus or a Town action group in your area.
We are also pleased to run the annual Bay Blooms Competition which is open to all persons in the Torbay area to enter. Please visit our competition page to find out more information. We take entries for the competition all year round ready for the judging during the summer!!!
Happy gardening!!!.
