As you grow older it's not uncommon to have sexual feelings for the same sex. You’re growing into an adult and this can be a confusing time emotionally. If you think you are gay, lesbian or bisexual this can add more pressure to your life, but don’t feel under pressure to label your sexuality too quickly. Some people who fancy the same sex don’t consider themselves to be gay or lesbian at all. The word heterosexual ('hetero' meaning different or other) describes a person who has feelings for members of the opposite sex. Homosexual ('homo' meaning same or equal) describes someone who has feelings for someone of their own sex. But often people use the terms gay, lesbian or bisexual instead. Words like queer, poof or fag are insulting to people. Roughly speaking around 6 – 10% of people grow up to be gay/lesbian/bisexual if you would like to meet other young people in your area or if your worried and would like to speak to someone about it you can join Torbay’s LGBTQ youth group are called Kushbai, give Kerrie a call on 07825 298319.
